The storyline is freewheeling yet entirely natural and the atmosphere of Rome by night seeps through very nicely on the big screen.
There's a delightful swipe at "meaningful" communist guerilla theatre; obligatory ethnics make only a brief, ambiguous appearance.
The Silver Linings Playbook now surely has a competitor for film of the year.
