This blog was opened in 2011 in the forlorn hope that it would result in some kind of solitary-but-social online interaction.
Alas, such interaction for the most part failed to materialise, and, in early 2014, regular posting ceased.
I'm still here however, and still watching films, although perhaps not in the same quantity as previously.
I've returned to my old habit of rating movies on IMDB. Here's the page: http://www.imdb.com/user/ur3446698/ratings
This blog's purpose was to serve up minimal film reviews; an out-of-10 movie rating consists of 1 numeral, or in rare cases, two. That's fairly minimal.
The films I return to time and again haven't changed much: European Arthouse, Film Noir, American Indies, American New Wave. Harder to find but willingly consumed are Australian New Wave and also, more recently, Icelandic films.

2014: My Year at the Flicks
OK, so in response to those of you who've inundated my inbox with hundreds of enquiries over the past 10 months, I'm still here, and below are the best films I saw (strictly at cinemas only) during 2014.
Monday, 3 February 2014
The Wolf of Wall Street (US, 2013)
Leo & Marty team up again for what is a 3-hour long romp, with some funny moments and occasional good bytes from the soundtrack.
Saturday, 1 February 2014
Inside Llewin Davies (US, 2013)
A struggling musician on the fringes of the early 60's folk scene in The Gaslight, NYC, who may or may not have thrown in the towel just before the explosion.
The Blue Gardenia (US, 1953)
Another average noir-ish drama from F. Lang.
Sunday, 5 January 2014
Deception (US, 1946)
Well made, but a little on the slow, stuffy and boring side.

2013: Films of the Year
It's not been the most prolific film-going year, because...stuff. As always, the only rule is that they be seen on a silver screen at a venue that accommodates the public.
